DAK KOPEC

With a master's and Ph.D. in psychology, a second master’s degree in architecture, and an honorary Fellowship to ASID (HFASID), I proudly identify as an Architectural Psychologist. I serve as a professor in the School of Architecture at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Throughout my career, I have been credited with researching, developing, and administering the first low-residency graduate program focused on design for human health at the Boston Architectural College. I also served as a visiting professor at the University of Hawaii, holding a joint appointment in the schools of architecture and medicine. Additionally, I have been listed as a Fulbright Specialist and completed two terms as a Fulbright Reviewer.

My work centers on designing environments that are tailored to support specific needs. This includes memory care centers for individuals living with dementia, trauma care facilities such as clinics and shelters for abused victims, refugee centers, and special education institutions for children with unique cognitive processing or behavioral challenges.

An egalitarian activist by nature, I am deeply committed to the belief that equal opportunity is essential for achieving equal outcomes. I recognize that disparities in opportunity often hinder true equity, and I use the written word as a tool to address these injustices. Believing that the pen is mightier than the sword, I advocate for a fairer world through both my fiction and nonfiction books.
